You've Got Mail.

Can I just say how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie? After I put the wee one down for the night I saw it was on one of the HBO channels & caught the last 1/2 hr. When Joe & Kathleen meet up in the end & he says "Don't cry, ShopGirl, don't cry" I'm a goner. *sigh*
I finished the simple 2x2 ribbed hat for Ginger's baby boy & will add it to the kimono & baby bib (left out of the picture). Tomorrow I need to pick up a gift bag, tissue & a card.

Out of the mouths of babes

My babe in particular. We were in Tuesday Morning picking up a potty treat (yes I am bribing my child!) & stopped to peek at the yarn in the sale bin. They had LB Incredible which is a pretty ribbon yarn. They used to have a cute toddler sweater pattern on their website & I've considered making it for the wee one.

Well I'm trying to see how much of the yarn they have in this one colorway when she points & says "mommy, ribbon yarn!"

Ribbon yarn!

She knew what it was!! I'm thinking Santa may bring some plastic needles! LOL

I'd like to thank the Academy & Mary. . .

For nominating me as a Rockin' Girl Blogger! I am honored & in the immortal words of Sally Field "You like me, you really really like me" LOL
I'm nominating LeslieJ, Lacey, Kristyn & Jane as Rockin' Girl Bloggers!!!
Speaking of Rockin', have you seen Rock of Love on VH-1? I admit to watching some of the shows on VH-1--how can you not? They're trashy, require little to no thought & you can knit while the train wreck is unfolding before your very eyes!
Rock of Love puts an 80's hair band spin on Flavor of Love (rapper FLava Flav). Bret Michaels (front man for Poison) wants a woman. And he wants one who will be around for the long haul (suuuuuuuure he does) so he & VH-1 have conconcted this show where 20 something women (notice I didn't say ladies?!) are all competing to be his main squeeze. The first episode was last Sunday & was a glitzy version of Jerry Springer (not that I watch Jerry--I do have SOME standards!). The combined IQ of these girls is in the double digits & I think that Clairol must be a financial backer as I have never seen so many bleached heads in one show! Let's not even comment on the implants! I'm not saying that if you color your hair & have implants you're a bad person. I'm just saying if you color your hair, have implants & are on this show then you're, well, lets not go there!
When they showed the previews for the next few shows I found myself wondering if there was enough penicillin to go around.
On a not-so-related note the wee one's potty training is going well (afraid to jinx it!). Today we're going for a big girl hair cut & for a treat for achieving a potty training goal! I had wanted to start earlier but with out big trip last month thought better of it!
Anyone reading Harry Potter? I admit to never having read any of the books except for on CD in the car. Hunter & I started 4 yrs ago on a trip to VA with book 2 & at one stop didn't want to get out of the car b/c the story was getting good! LOL I'm anxious to see how it all ends. We're going to see the Order of the Phoenix when he's home for R & R.

Lazy hazy (not really) days of summer

They're upon us & we're enjoying them. The wee one woke up Monday night (Tues. am) crying which she never does. She came into my room just past midnight & got in bed with me but wouldn't settle down to sleep so we went back to her bed. She finally fell back to sleep & I went to bed. About an hour & a half later she woke up crying again. I brought her into my room & around 3 we fell back to sleep until 9 when Hunter called & woke us up. I cant believe she slept so late! Off to the dr's to discover she did have an ear infection. A zpack later we were on our way.

My ITE IV bag is en route to its new owner. I really hope she likes it!

I'm having a CT scan in a week for a swollen optic nerve. Yes I've googled it. Yes, I know what it could be a symptom of. Yes, I had a couple days were I freaked. I am hoping that the results are something else.

We've been swimming a couple times this week & both times I've had to practically pull her out of the pool! Gah!

Today Libby is at the groomer, we returned library books, went to the PO & picked up some groceries. I've got a load of laundry going & some towels to put away (pool towels from yesterday).

We're gearing up for R & R & are trying to decide where to stay when we go on our long weekend trip. We've found a nice little house to rent but there's also an option of a cute condo. Both are pet friendly which is great & both are spitting distance from the beach. I guess we'll see which is available once he's out of Iraq & getting his itinerary in Kuwait!

The wee one's school list came & has been filled. We decided not to pull her from school while Hunter is home. It's going to keep some continuity in her life (what little we can give her with this deployment!) & give us some alone time. I'm looking forward to breakfast with my husband!

I'm working on a baby bib for a woman in our FRG, okay 2! Another girl is crocheting a baby blanket so I'll go for small things. My knitting ADD is back & I'm easily distracted. I'm blaming Hunter for being on the overnight shift & being online in the evening so I can talk go him!

Hope everyone has a safe & fun weekend!

ITE IV bag is finally done!

Got it lined today & now it's packed up & ready to go out. It's not my most favorite bag so I hope my partner likes it!
The flowers have pin backings & can be removed or kept on the bag.
And I apologize for the poor quality photo----apparently my camera's been hanging out with Leslie's!

Some cuteness to start your day

The wee one discovered her jacket when I was cleaning out the coat closet & insisted on wearing it. (Note the Monica tank underneath)
I can't get over how big she looks in this picture!
On a side note, laptop is fixed and my wallet is lighter. And 5 phone calls to our modem/router company & IP co later we have resolved our internet connection issues. Get this---turns out we had a line plugged into the router that should have been plugged into the modem. Not sure if I switched them last week when the storm wiped out our 'net connection or if that's how Hunter had them set up but everything's running smoothly (knock wood!) now!

Spring Felted Bag Exchange is o-vah!

So today my mailman Bill knocked on my door & had this yoooooooooooooge box in his hands. It was from LadyWy (Joanne) in Iowa.

This is my bag! How gorgeous is this??
She designed it herself & it's a great sized tote.

Libby was very interested in the big stuffed dog. He's holding a fleece blanket. He is yet to be named but so far he's been very cuddly!

Then the wee one woke up from her nap & discovered HER bag! Yes, Joanne made a bag for the wee one as well----hers is lilac w/ a beautiful pink butterfly (again her own design)

She also sent some color wonder markers----I keep forgetting to add the person who created them to my Christmas card list. They are fun for kids & no clean up for parents!

The neatest surprise was this giant yarn ball w/ the note saying that I would have to unravel the ball to find all the goodies!

A yummy sachet, beautiful stitch markers, beads (which I will be keeping for ME ME ME!), point protectors in the shape of socks---Red socks to boot! & a CD w/ "patterns galore" And of course, the ball o'yarn which will make a pretty blanket for BIL & SIL's bebe due this winter.

Thank you so much Joanne for the wonderful emails, e cards, numerous goody packages! If any of you do a bag swap & are fortunate enough to have her as your partner you'll be in heaven!

Wishing everyone a Happy & safe 4th of July!

A word to the wise. . .

just because you have spent an hour on the phone w/ tech support for your wireless router it DOES.NOT mean you are now a tech guru. And you SHOULD.NOT start messing around with settings etc.

Where's the "banging your head against the wall" emoticon on blogger???

So tomorrow we're off to visit the Geek Squad to let them figure out what's up & while that's happening the wee one & I will go shopping to find some fabric to line the bag for ITE IV & a zipper perhaps. Or a pretty button. Then we'll get the remaining items on her school supply list. Only 6 more weeks until school starts!
